Sensitive Skin

What detergent do you use for your sensitive skin? Last week I had some extra laundry detergent that I used before I switched over to Shaklee. I thought I'll just use that up! It was a huge mistake. My son broke out really badly and it cost us a trip to the doctor and a prescription cream. I can't believe the huge mistake I made and now my little boy is suffering.

So I'm curious, I realize my son has sensitive skin but what exactly is in the detergent that is irritating his skin?

Here is the laundry detergent I used and the label on it

Did you read the effects of the detergent if your child swallows it, inhales it, or if it gets into their eyes? I'll post this section again.

Ingestion: May cause transient gastrointestinal irritation.
Eye Contact: May cause mild, transient irritation.
Inhalation: Transient irritation with prolonged exposure to concentrated material.
Signs and Symptoms of Exposure:
Ingestion: May result in nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea.
Eye Contact: May cause stinging, tearing, itching, swelling, and/or redness.
Skin: Prolonged contact with concentrated material may be drying or transiently irritating to skin.

It can actually irritate your intestines and cause diarrhea and just about any other significant illness we would die to keep our children from.

This is why my child's mild form of eczema turned into an all our viral breakout!

Can you imagine what this is doing to all of our skin? Just because it smells good doesn't mean it's a wise choice. Especially when we use this on our little ones. I made this mistake once and I won't do it again.

But with Shaklee our products last many many months! Not just our detergent! A lot of you buy in bulk and that is the approach Shaklee has. A 32 or 64 ounce bottle of Shaklee detergent goes along way!

Please email with any other specific products you have questions on. I will do my best to research it!

  1. BTW With Shaklee if your child gets ahold of it; it's safe. That doesn't mean you should hand it to your child, LOL. But imagine a home where you don't have to worry about them puking or DIEING because they got into something like Era Detergent? Era's not the only detergent. Also, just because the detergent is "DYE FREE" doesn't mean it's safe for your children. A lot of those companies still use harmful ingredients that aren't safe for you or your children!

  3. I'm gradually trying to switch my household into all natural soaps and cleaners too. Not just because of sensitive skin, but that is a part of it. I'm glad you found something that won't irritate your son's skin.

I tried to be cheap once and buy inexpensive wipes - this was a few weeks ago -- my son's poor bottom was literally bleeding like a chemical burn. So now I just use my reuseable cloth wipes and water. I learned my lesson the hard way, too.

sorry for such a LONG comment! :)

Nicole. Love your website and I would love to visit again next week!

Sorry about the inexpensive wipe ordeal. That stinks. I understand how we think cheaper can be better but it's not!

    Thanks so much!
